The future is definitely looking bright for Madill basketball as evident by stellar championship performances last week by the Wildcat 8th grade teams as each won their own tournament.
CoachCarlosHumphrey’s Lady Wildcats claimed the title for the third straight yearwithatremendousblend of tenacity, grit and athleticism in building to a 5-1 start to the season.
That group is composed of Braylee James, Trisstyn Wescott, Kinsley Troxtell, Leighton Clement, Alyvia Coles, Aubrey Orr and Brenda Hernandez.
“This year’s group has carried over the strong habits andwinningmentalitydeveloped during their dominant sixth- and seventh-grade seasons,” Humphrey said. “The team plays with toughness, poise, and a clear understanding of who they are— defensively sound, unselfish on offense, and consistently ready for big moments. Their latest tournament title is another testament to the work they’ve put in and the standard they’ve set for Madill basketball.”
The boys of Coach Kyle Jessie also cruised to the tournament title and even one upped the ladies by also capturing the Kingston Tournament championship a week earlier in unbeaten fashion.
Madill rolled past Sulphur, Dickson and Plainview for their home tournament crown after blitzing Sulphur, Marietta and Silo in the Kingston tournament run.
That crew has shown a tenaciousdefensiveapproach with an aggressive pressure offense that should only get better as they continue to garner more experience.
Team members for the Wildcats are Akzel Fernandez, Kam Martin, Brantley Eppler, Noah Blackburn, Jayce Shebester, Rylan Stuckey, Maxwell Humphrey, Derek Gomez, Emilano Bautista, Ajay Reed, Marqis Ibarra, Luke Beesley and Aden Recio.
