Sue Janet Harden Combes 84, of Madill, Okla. passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Alliance Hospital in Durant, Okla.. She was born on December 7, 1936 in Pontotoc, Okla. to the late Woodrow Wilson Harden and Polly Compton Harden.
Sue was raised in Pontotoc where she graduated from Pontotoc High School. She later attended Murray State College and the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, formerly known as Oklahoma College for Women, in Chickasha Okla.
Sue married Haskell Warren Combes on June 9, 1956 in Tishomingo, Okla.and he preceded her in death on August 7, 2014. She retired from the Oklahoma Baptist Home for Girls where she worked for several years as the office manager. Sue was a member of the Oakview Baptist Church in Oakland and she enjoyed cooking, quilting, reading recipes, working in the yard, and being with her family.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister; Gail Lanier and one brother; Hardy Harden
She is survived by her sons; Mark Combes and wife Kristi of Madill, Okla., and Barry Combes of Madill, Okla., two grandchildren; Joel Halvorsen and Sarah Combes, and her sister, Linda Maughan of Moore, Okla.
Visitation was held Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a family hour family hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. on October 7, 2021 at the Pontotoc Cemetery in Pontotoc, Okla. Greg Idell will officiate the service. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
