He passed away from this life surrounded by his family in Oklahoma City on November 8, 2019 following a brief illness at the age of 57. Rodney grew up in Oakland and was brought up in the Catholic faith. While attending mass at the age of twelve, “Bozo” as his family and friends knew him, began dating the love of his life, Noemi Ruiz “Laurie” Shaw. While the pair were in the 7th grade, following their graduations from Madill High School, the couple were wed on July 22, 1983, remaining together for the next 36 years. Rodney worked in construction and factory assembly for most of his life, including service to Glen Oaks Manufacturing, the Madill Pants Factory, South Central Manufacturing and Elliot Home, Inc. at the time of his death he was employed at W-W Trailer. He was well liked by his co-workers and was known to be a hand worker who caused few problems. Many remember him with his wild hair and beard behind the wheel of his pick-up, always with the lead foot and a sly smile blasting tunes anywhere he went. To his family, Rodney was the quiet and easy going rock for his children to lean on, always dependable an always ready with a smile. He enjoyed music, fishing, and camping, watching sports, classic movies but most of all he loved the time spent with his children and grandchildren at their events and activities. He was known to be a parent who took the extra time to be near them whenever he could and he could nearly always be found in the stands at Madill School events watching his kids with delight.
