Orland David Hughes

Orland David Hughes, 80, of Washita Point, Okla. passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022, at his home. He was born on November 17, 1941, in Holdenville, Okla. to the late Orland Rudolph Hughes and Reba Gertrude Fowler. David was raised in Norman, Oklah. and later moved to McBride, Okla. and graduated from Kingston High School in 1960.

He married Vera Alice Robertson on September 2, 1961, in Kingston before joining the United States Air Force where he served for eight years. David attended Oklahoma State University before moving his family to Colorado. He later lived in Berryville, Ark. for over 30 years before moving back to Washita Point on Lake Texoma where he lived the past six years. He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, working on his flowers in the yard, and just being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife Vera Hughes, of Washita Point, Okla.; children, Beverly Bishop and husband James, of Russellville, Ark., Greg Hughes and Kara Kries, of Eureka Springs, Ark., Randal Hughes and wife Brandy, of Berryville, Ark.; grandchildren, Spenser Bowen, Stephanie Vanhandel, Dakota Henderson, Sierra Kelsey, Dillon Hughes, Kendra Granger, Trenton Hughes, Brandt Hughes, Nicole Carlton, and Richard Kries; great grandchildren, Serenity Bowen, Jonah Vanhandel, Huntley Henderson, Scarlett Carlton, Olivia Vanhandel, Carter Hughes, Delta Kelsey and Jaxie Henderson; sister, Teresa Jackson and husband Gary of Sargent, Texas.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 14, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2022, at the Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. Diana Morris will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Condon Grove Cemetery in Milburn, Okla. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to: wattsfuneralhome.com,
