Marylynn Gay West, 77, of Kingston, Okla., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. She was born Sept. 28, 1942, in Gainesville, Texas, to the late Jack Lindley Gooden and Aleta Nadine Craft Gooden. She graduated from Pernell High School in Pernell, Okla., in 1960. She later attended East Central State University in Ada, Okla.

Marylynn married Clifford Wayne West on Sept. 28, 1960, at the courthouse in Ada. She retired from the Marshall County DHS after 24 years.

Marylynn enjoyed working outside with flowers, sewing, crafting, doing genealogy and playing the piano. She began playing for the church at the age of 13. Marylynn played the piano and organ for 55 plus years at Midway Baptist church, Tussy, Okla., First Baptist Church, Kingston, Okla., Texoma Southern Baptist Church, Kingston, Hilltop Baptist Church, Kingston, Emmanuel Baptist in Mead, Okla., and New Hope Baptist Kingston. She also worked as a volunteer at the Marshall Memorial Hospital in Madill for 15 years.

Marylynn is survived by her husband: Clifford Wayne West, Kington, Okla.; son: Roger West and wife, Christy, Rowlett, Texas; grandchildren: Chasten West, Rowlett, Texas; Caitlynn West, Rowlett, Texas; sisters: Ginger Burris and husband Fred, Frisco, Texas; Judy Benton and husband, Allen, LaGrange, Texas; Jackie Sutton and husband, Lray, McKinney, Texas; brother: Bill Gooden and wife, Susan, Duncan, Okla.; sister-in-law: Joanne Norton, Kingston, Okla.; brother-in-law: Kenneth West and wife, Wanda, Shawnee, Okla.; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marylynn was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Carolynn K. Alderman, and brother: Jimmy W. Gooden.

Services were 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Mead Okla. Randy Lewis and Elmer Whitehead officiated the service. Music was arranged by Shelby Gardner.
