Lutheria Nell Mayo

Lutheria Nell Mayo, 90, of Madill, Okla., passed away on July 31, 2022 in Prairie Estates Nursing Center in Frisco, Texas. She was born on April 20, 1932, in Jewett, Texas to the late Vernon Lee Kennedy and Lena McBride Kennedy. Lou was raised in Jewett, Texas and later lived in Florida and Colorado before moving to Madill in 1959.

She married Herbert Eugene Mayo on March 16, 1949, in Houston, Texas. They owned and operated Sportsman’s Thrifty Center in Madill until retirement in 1979. After their retirement, they enjoyed raising cattle and harvesting pecans.

Lou was a member of the Eastern Star and the First Baptist Church in Madill. She enjoyed going antiquing, cooking and playing the piano. Lou welcomed friends and family through cooking and love of piano gospel music.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda King; three brothers, Irby, Elmer and John Kennedy; and two sisters, Marcelle Hinson and Elsie Adrienne Kennedy.

Lou is survived by her husband Gene Mayo of Madill, Okla.; daughter, Jeanie Mayo Elliott of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Cherish Ralls and husband Matt of Oklahoma City, Okla., Kimberly Delagarza and husband Adrian of Austin, Texas; six great grandchildren, Sage, Bentley, Pippa, Aaron, Zoey and Gabby.

Visitation will be Friday, August 5, 2022 at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a family hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery in Madill, Okla. Randy Kendrix will officiate the service. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
