Kenneth James Harrison, age 89, of Madill, Okla. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, Okla.
Kenneth was born on February 2, 1931 at Powell, Marshall County, Okla. to Andrew Jasper and Mary Evelyn (Adams) Harrison. He was the youngest of eight children. He grew up and attended school in the Willis/Fobb communities of Marshall County. When the draft came up for the Korean War, Kenneth and his brother Francis both enlisted and headed off to fight in South Korea.
While home on leave he met and married Dorothy Dell Hewitt on June 29, 1954 in Madill, Okla. at the courthouse. Kenneth got work in the Dallas/ Ft. Worth, Texas area working with his father-in-law Jim Locke who painted houses. He and Dorothy soon came back to Oklahoma and made their home in the Linn Community outside of Madill, Okla. They were married nearly nine years before they were blessed with their first child and two more children followed.
Kenneth worked in the construction field and was a contract roustabout for Jessie Gray. He worked in oilfields in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Oklahoma. After he and Dorothy divorced in 1975 he moved to Borger, Texas where he worked in the same type of job. He also farmed and raised cattle.
Kenneth was baptized at the Midtown Church of Christ in Ft. Worth, Texas when he was in his thirties. He came back to the Lord about 20 years ago and was a faithful member of the Madill Church of Christ. Kenneth loved coon hunting and raised and sold many coon dogs in the day. He also loved fishing especially cat fishing in his later days. He was an avid reader of his Bible and loved a good argument when it came to scripture.
Most of all, he loved his children and grandchildren. He was proud of each and every one of them. Kenneth was a friend to anyone who was in need and never met a stranger. If you needed help, he would go out of his way to make sure you got what you needed.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Opal Dutton, Viola Ballato, Augusta Pearl Harrison, and Dorothy Erwin; and his three brothers: Paul Harrison, Hoy Harrison, and Francis Harrison.
He is survived by: his daughter, Kim Kenedy and husband Eddie of Madill, his son, Kenny Harrison and Wife, Marcie of Madill, and daughter, Kristi Brown and husband Ross of Calera, Okla.; grandchildren: Kayla Burnett and husband Matt of Tulsa, Okla., BreAnne Peters and husband Dylan of Tulsa, Okla., Seth Harrison and wife Marlee of Kingston, Okla., Koby Harrison and wife Ashton of Durant, Ok., Christian Hajny, and Ryleigh Brown both of Calera, Okla., one great-granddaughter, Lydia Grace Harrison of Kingston, Okla. and many nieces and nephews, and a special friend Helen Lasiter of Kingston, Okla.
The family would like to thank Pam Blankenship from the Veterans Center in Ardmore, Okla. who was Kenneth’s social worker there but more importantly his friend, as well as the doctors and nurses who cared for him at Mercy Hospital on the COVID ward.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Pettijohn Springs Christian Camp at P. O. Box 440, Madill, Oklahoma 73446

Visitation will be Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2021 at Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla.
Todd McRay and Chris Webb will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Linn Cemetery in Madill, Okla. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
