Memorial services for Joyce Charlene “Muer” Beames, 85, were 10 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2019, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Wilson officiating.

The daughter of the late Sherwin William Smith and Nancy Elene (Strickland) Smith, Muer was born on Dec. 13, 1933, in a log cabin on the banks of the Red River near the community of Isom Springs, Okla., and passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at her Ardmore residence.

A resident of Southern Oklahoma most of her life, Muer graduated from Kingston High School and attended Southeastern State University. She worked at Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater, Okla., for 25 years. Muer moved back to Ardmore 15 years ago and had been a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her grandkids and her two special dogs.

She is survived by her son: Calvin Beames III and wife, Dorothy; daughters: Deborah Lee Puckette and husband, Tom and Rebecca Ann Bray and husband, Ivan; sister: Dayna Littleton; niece: Jamie Sue Dyer and husband, Travis; grandchildren: Calvin Beames IV and wife, Megan; Melanie Long and husband, Jake; Michael Puckette and wife, Kerry; Mark Puckette; Taylor Aaron and husband, Trevor; Bubba Bray and wife, Jesica; Shawna Keith and husband, Josh; and Valerie Bray; great-grandchildren: Tucker, Leah, Madalynn, Evan, Camrynn, Taylon, Kevin, Jemma, Quintin, Oakley, Titus, Tyler, Colten, Cassidy, Hailey, Courtney, Dani, Dylan, Devinn and Spencer.

Preceded in death by her parents: S.W. and Elene Smith; sister: Janet Carol Roberts; brothers-in-law: James Danner and O.P. Littleton.

Honorary pallbearers were the grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice.
