Francis Edward (Brush) Skiles, 72, of Sherman, Texas died Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the hospital in Denison, Texas. He was born on February 9, 1948 in Hollis, Okla. to the late Hurley Edward Skiles and Violette Loretta Martin Skiles.

Brush was raised in Johnston and Marshall counties and attended Wapanucka schools. He joined the United States Army and later the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War. After serving in the military, Brush moved to Sherman where he lived the rest of his life. He married Deborah Lucille Sutherland on July 30, 1990 in Sherwood Shores, Texas.

Brush worked for the City of Sherman for several years as a Sanitation Engineer. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and enjoyed music, playing his guitar, hunting arrowheads, driving the backroads and anything outdoors. More than anything, he enjoyed his retirement spending time with his wife and best friend Debbie.

He is survived by his wife Debbie Skiles of Sherman, Texas, his children; Chris Skiles and wife Lori of Powell, Okla., Ray Johnson of Sherman, Texas, Michael Johnson and wife Kim of Southmayd, Texas, and Alonda Blancett and husband Tommy of Sherman, Texas, 13 grandchildren; Mikey Skiles, Cody Skiles, Whisper Odom, Cameron Skiles, Logan Skiles, Carisa Skiles, Tori Booher, Hunter Blansccett, Taylor Blanscett, Bubba Johnson, Destiny Johnson, Samara Johnson, and Layla Johnson, four great grandchildren, his sisters; Cindy Glenn of Madill, Okla., Linda Ingle and husband Devyrle of Mannsville, Okla., Carolyn Skiles Ayres, ofFort Worth, Texas, Tuesday Kay Skiles of Washington, and brother James McGahey and wife Cindy of Hugo, Okla.

Visitation was Monday January 11, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a family hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.

Service was Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. Interment was at the Connerville Cemetery in Connerville, Okla. Chris Webb and Carolyn Skiles Ayres officiated the service. Services were under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.

Casket Bearers were Larry Lee, Charlie Buckaloo, Steve Buckaloo, Eddie Buckaloo, Michael Buckaloo, and Chubby McGahey.

Honorary Bearers were Michael Johnson Jr., Hunter Blancett, Mikey Skiles, and Ray Johnson.
