Clifford Wayne West 84, of Kingston, Okla. passed away Monday,December26,2022,attheTexomaMedicalCenter in Denison, Texas. He was born on March 10, 1938, in Francis, Okla.to the late Cal West and Viola Myrtle Wilson West.
After marrying the love of his life Marylynn Gooden West on September 28, 1962, in Ada, Okla., they adopted a son in 1966 and named him Roger Dwayne West. Wayne graduated from East Central University and decided to pursue a career in education. He taught and coached sports for most of his life. Wayne began his coaching and teaching career in Ransom, Kans. and later moved to Kingston in 1970 where he was a teacher, coach, and a high school principal until he retired in 1987.
Many generations of students over several decades knew him as “Coach West”. After retiring, he continued to want to help and be a part of the school system, so he became a volunteer and a substitute teacher. He would be seen many times visiting in the halls with any and everyone he could.
Wayne’s faith in God and passion to serve the people as a good steward was very much recognized in him. He was ti i th h h i d i d d very active in the church, serving as an ordained deacon and taught bible classes almost every Sunday.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cleo West and wife Juanita, Carrol Eugene West, Willie West; sisters, Joan Norton, Edna Bingham and husband T. J., Mildred Price and husband Wesley, Thelma Termini and husband Steve, Wilma Norman and husband J. R., Velma West, Gail West and Betty West.
Wayne is survived by his son Roger West and wife Christy of Rowlett, Texas; grandchildren, Chasten West, Caitlynn West; brother, Kenneth D. West and wife Wanda of Shawnee, Texas.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Watts Funeral Home in Kingston, Okla. from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be Thursday, 19, at 10:00 a.m., January 19, 2023, at the Watts Funeral Home in Kingston, Okla. It will be of. ciated by Kent Jensen and Brian Brister. Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Francis, Okla. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.
