Carl Cletus Thurlo, 90, of Kingston, Okla. passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at his home. He was born in Duncan, Okla. to the late Earl P. Haliburton and Edith Cole Eaton.

CarlwasraisedinDuncanandattended Kingston schools. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 serving during the Korean War on the USS Newport News Ship. After serving in the Navy, Carl moved to Electra, Texas and worked in the oil fields before moving to Kingston in the late 50’s.

He married Lieselotte (Lisa) Koop in April 1973, and she preceded him in death on April 9, 2015. Carl owned and operated several businesses, Texoma Stone, Thurlo Asphalt and Paving. He and his son invented a stone cutting machine and set up small rural post offices. Carl was a member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Colbert, Okla. and he enjoyed working and drinking coffee with his friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; wife and stepson, Steve Seitz He is survived by his sons, Terry Simpson and wife Billie of Madill, Okla., Guy Thurlo of Texas, Mark Goodearle of Kingston, Okla., Ben Koop of Kingston, Okla.; daughters, Lynda Thurlo of Fort Worth, Texas, Sheila Smith and husband Ken of Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren, Ty Thurlo, Mary Ann Thurlo, Cristel Thurlo, Craig Thurlo, Elizabeth Thurlo, Corey Simpson, Guy Thurlo Jr., Michael Simpson, Jennifer Koop, Dollie Simpson, Lyle Koop, Angel Simpson, James Koop and Sara Ammons.

Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, 346 Somers Ave., Colbert, Okla. 74733 The memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Watts Funeral Home in Kingston, Okla.
