Billy Gene Bishop

Billy Gene Bishop 74, of Durant, Okla. passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022, in Durant. He was born on August 21, 1947, in Madill to the late Oral Elmer Bishop and Hazel Dovie Erwin Bishop. Bill was raised in Enos and attended Enos and Kingston schools.

He worked as a peanut farmer for Clint Williams for several years before going to work for Charles Sullivan and Bill worked for his father-in-law P.D. Bruce for the last 15 years.

He married Vickie Lynn Bruce on December 28, 1984, in Gainesville, Texas and they have lived in Durant since 1990. Bill enjoyed playing dominos, fishing, taking care of his livestock, going to auctions and the casino. His greatest love was his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Tutor, Melvin, Delmas and Jerry Bishop; three sisters, Polly Arterberry, Irene Weaver, and Bernice Laird; and mother-in-law, Frankie Bruce.

He is survived by hiw wife, Vickie Lynn Bishop from Durant, Okla.; children, Tammye Bishop, Waurika of Oklahoma, Bo Bishop and wife April of Durant, Oklah., Mindy Joines and husband Bo of Durant, Okla., Billy Paul Bishop and wife Tara of Durant, Okla.; grandchildren, Shad, Cadence, Seth, Hunter, Remmington, Alexa, Shawn Cole, Brody, Laynee, Camdyn, Allie, Mallory, Taelyn, and Kinzlie; brother, Shy Bishop and wife Alice of Enos, Okla.; father-in-law, P.D. Bruce of Madill, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a family hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be Friday, February 25, 2022, at Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. at 2:00 p.m. Dustin Coleman will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Lark Cemetery in Enos, Okla. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
