Averil Eugene “Mutt” Wallace, 78, of Madill, Okla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at the hospital in Madill. He was born July 2, 1941, in Fobb Bottom, Okla., to the late Averil Alvin Wallace and Mable Gladys Forguson Wallace. Mutt was raised in Lebanon and attended the Madill Schools. He later joined the United States Navy and served for several years.

Mutt married Anita Eileen West on July 7, 1962, in Ardmore, Okla. He worked for the Denison Police Department and later at AA Wallace Steel Building in Madill. Mutt also worked as Texoma-16 for the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department before becoming the Chief of Police in Madill and Texoma Lake Patrol. In 1982, he joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and retired as Lieutenant in 2002.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Madill and he enjoyed, metal detecting and his Sunday School Class. His greatest joy was traveling in the motor home.

He is survived by hi wife: Anita Wallace, Madill, Okla.; son: Alan Wallace, Madill, Okla.; grandchildren: John Wallace, Mallory Brewer and Tyler Wallace; great-grandchildren: Ryan Wallace, Jayce Brewer and Lilly Brewer; brother: Jerry Wallace and wife, Barbara, Madill, Okla.; and sister: Rosemary Buxton and husband, David, Tulsa, Okla.

Visitation was Wednesday, Aug.t 28, 2019, at Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Okla., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Services were 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, Okla. Randy Kendrix officiated the service. Interment was at the Oakland Cemetery, Oakland, Okla. Casket bearers were: Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Honorary bearers were: Mutt’s Sunday school class.
