Four Madill students receive FFA State Degree

Four Madill students earned their State FFA Degree. Peyton Arnold, Brody Case, Krysha Green and Tarah Wiese all earned the title. Wiese was also awarded AcademicExcellencewhichis a high honor only bestowed to a few students.

To qualify for election, students must have previously received the Chapter FFA Degree, must have been an active FFA member for at least two years at the time of receiving the State FFA Degree. Students must also have completed a minimum of two years of systematic school instruction in an agricultural educationatorabove the ninth-grade level. This includes a supervised agricultural experience program.

The requirements also include investments. The student must have an SAE earning (net profit) of at least $2,000 delivered from the supervised agricultural experience programduringthetime the student is in Agricultural Education. They also must have productively invested a minimum of $2,000 in SAE assets, savings accounts or checking accounts on December 31 of the school year the application was submitted and have a minimum equity in agricultural investments of $2,000.

Recipients must also demonstrate leadership ability. To do this, they must perform ten parliamentary procedure activities, give a six-minute speech, serve as an officer, chairman or active member of a major committee, participate in the planning and completionofthechapterprogram of activities, represent the local FFA chapter in a minimumof20differentFFA activities above the chapter level and have a satisfactory record.

Students must have a minimum of three letters of recommendation from local citizens. These letters must cover the student’s character, agricultural experience program, leadership and cooperation in chapter and community activities.

Recipients also must submit an Official FFA Scrapbook or Official FFA Portfolio, and they must have participated in a minimum of 25 hours within at least two different community service activities.
