A bio of each of them: Carolyn Brown was born in Texas and raised in southern Oklahoma. These days, she and her husband make their home in Davis, Okla., a small town of less than three thousand people. A plaque hangs on her office wall that says “I know the voices are not real but they have such great ideas.”
That is her motto and muse as she goes through the days with quirky characters in her head, telling their stories, one by one and loving her job. She has been marriedalmosthalfacentury to a retired English teacher that she call Mr. B. and he doesnotreadherbooksbefore they are published because she cannot afford a divorce.
They have three grown children, and enough grandchildren to keep them busy and young. When Carolyn is not writing she likes to sit in the back yard and watch the two tom cats protect the yard from all kinds of wicked varmints like crickets, other cats, spiders and blue jays.
Her novels have sold more than seven million copies, and have been on multiple best seller lists, won several award and have been praised by both reviewers and fans. C.R.Pughgrewupoutside of Atlanta, Georgia where she graduated high school. After graduating college, she moved to Texas and began a teaching career of 13 years. Ms. Pugh never imagined becoming a writer and, in fact, hated most of her literature classes growing up.
Pugh's debut novel, Hunted in the Valley, was published Augustof2018andthe rest is history. She has since finished that dystopian trilogy and moved on to a young adult historical fantasy series. The idea for the Petticoat Pirate series came about during the spring of 2014 whenMs.Pughwaswatching and reading anything historical or steampunk.
Though the Petticoat Pirate series is more fantasy than steampunk, Pugh loved the idea of integrating magic into the 18th century, revolutionary world. Magic makes everything more fun! Pugh prides herself on writing clean fiction with a bit of romance within the adventure.
C.R. Pugh is now a full time stay at home mom and writer. Other hobbies include reading, gardening, watching Hallmark, HGTV, the Cooking Network, and Marvel movies. Ramona Farley was born in Lexington, Okla. and has lived in Oklahoma most of her life. She graduated from Lexington High School and shortlyafterwardskickedthe dust off that little town to go out into the world.
She found very quickly that there was no road map or instruction book to show her the way. She failed at marriage but had three wonderful children; two boys and agirl.Shemanagedtobounce around and dabble in many opportunities, but the road seemed to always lead back to home.
In 1993, she was running a restaurant on Bull Shoals Lake in Missouri when the most dreaded event a parent can experience happened. Her son at the age of nineteen passed away.
She dropped everything and came back home to Lexington. It was there she went back to her roots. Her hometown church and family helped her through the difficult times that followed.
She reconnected with a high school friend and later married Jerry Farley. They continuedtoliveinLexington until retirement when they moved to the Lake Texoma area.
As a child she loved to read and always dreamed of writing a book. In 2010, after thirty years of writing, she finally finished her first book. Her 93 year old Aunt Martha read the book and told her she needed to finish the story.
Well, needless to say, she finished that story with Carol’s Rose and went on to write four more books. She has many books in her mind and outlines on her laptop that may never come to fruition, but at least she fulfilled her dream to write a book. Quilting, playing bridge, church activities, and loving on her grandchildren and great grandchildren seem to keep her pretty busy.
Caitlyn Herrera was born and raised in southern Oklahoma. She is a mother of three beautiful children and wife to a wonderful man.
Writing is a passion she has always had, hover she was always too frightened to put herself out there publicly. Once she did she had the unconditional support of her family and could not be more blessed.
Her inspiration for writing was all due to her grandmother, Katie, who was the one who showed her that she could live a thousand lives through books. Caitlyn was always enchanted by the many different stories and lives she could live through vicariously. Grandmother Katie was and is my inspiration.
Herrera’s debut novel, Untamed is a thrilling tale that is expertly paced and full of inventive characters that leave readers wanting more with each twist.
Kartika R. Anderson; The following is an excerpt from her book. 'In 2010, my pastor gave a mandate to write. Pastor’s desire was for us to use our writing gifts to help ourselves and advance the Kingdom of God. I was sitting inthecongregationandchose to receive it. I had know I was a writer for more than 30 years. I had allowed “life” to push my writing deep inside me, but Pastor’s call awakened something in me. Was it belief, courage, permission? I began the journey to find my voice again.'
'I’ve read that depression is anger turned inward I believe that is true in my case. I started writing in 4th grade, but writing had become more and more difficult for me through the years. Perhaps because I was losing my real self in order to be what I express my displeasure about that.'
'I wrote the book Turing Blue to Blu e with all the transparency my pastor and his staff have modeled for me. I have mothering to be ashamedof.Ihavenoregrets. I believe it is necessary to start at the core of who I am, to understand it and then to share it, heals the person I share with and me.'
