The Marshall County Super Bowl has been around for many years. Many residents love the event and look forward to it all year long. How does a community make an amazing event even more memorable? Simple, add cheerleader dance off.
The idea was the brainstorm of the Madill cheerleaders. When all the members and staff started planning in April for the 2022 football season, they wanted to try adding some new and exciting elements.
Of course, the first task was the Kingston game - not only because of the hype behind it, but also because it was so early in the season. One cheerleader mentioned thefactthatthebandsalways play together to kick off the game.Shealsosaidhowfunit would be for the cheer squads to do the same.
After coming up with a few ideas, the group decided a dance at halftime would be the most fun. The cheerleaders contacted the Kingston squad and they were excited to join, so the work quickly began.
Evan Watts, one of the Madill cheerleaders, came up with the amazing choreography. Then the Wildcat crew sent videos to the Redskins so they could begin learning the choreography.
Once both squads had time to get familiar with the dance, they came together and started practicing together twice a week during the month of June and part of July, to get all the formations and wrinkles worked out. After that, they worked individually and then came back as a group a few evenings to put it all together on the field.
Soon, game night was looming over all the members. The excitement for the night was overwhelming. These girls have friends and family in both communities and getting together to show unity was very special. Even though Madill and Kingston have a huge rivalry on the field, at the end of the day, they belong to the same community.
When asked how to describe the night, many words like memorable, legendary, iconic, proud, unreal, unbelievable and unforgettable were heard above all the other noises.
To say this will stick with them for many years to come is an understatement. They really enjoyed the night and it seems the fans did too.
