The Madill Rose Garden Club held the yearly planning meeting on August 11, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. It was held in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church with seven members in attendance. They welcomed anewmember,aswell.
Linda Kay Green, MRGC President called the meeting to order. Jo Wood led the clubmembersinthe“Garden Creed.” “Favorite Summer Flower” was roll call with Becky Ninemire, secretary.
Nancy Kerr introduced Jayson Pruitt as the new memberoftheclub.Members of the club said they were excited to have a gentleman in the club. Mary Jane Lowery announced that Mary Louis Jones celebrated her 99th birthday on August 12.
Members discussed the needforappearanceimprovements for the city of Madill. Several areas of Madill need to have problems addressed and improvements made to make Madill more attractive not only for the citizens of the community but for those who travel through the community.
A discussion was held on the 2022-2023 club yearbook. Members were asked to volunteer for monthly library decorations, Yard of the Month selections, programs and devotions.
Ninemire stated that a single red rose in a budvase was sent to Margaret Clark in memory of Rickey Clark. A library book in Rickey’s memory will be purchased for the Madill City Library. Members suggested a book on fishing and hunting.
Kaye served delicious refreshments of sandwiches, watermelon, cookies and beverages to Doris Farris, Nancy Kerr, Mary Jane Lowery, Becky Ninemire, Susan Patton, Jayson Pruitt and Jo Wood.
