Donald Ray Chapman

Donald Ray Chapman, 90, of Madill, Okla. passed away on April 23, 2022, at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. He was born on October 12, 1931, in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Richard Edward Chapman and Ella Essie Nichols Chapman.

Don was raised in Wichita Falls and Corpus Christi, Texas area. He graduated high school in 1951 from Ringling, Okla. and later attended OSU, Southeastern State University and Murray State Colleges.

Don served in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. For his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal. Don married Peggy Yvonne Ezell on April 2, 1971, in Arkansas. Over the years, he owned and operated several rental properties, video stores and motels. Don worked 28 years as a Superintendent of Mail for the US Postal Service.

In his younger years he enjoyed swimming, skiing, jumping off Tuckers Tower at Lake Murray, Okla. and going to Turner Falls in Davis, Okla. Don also enjoyed camping, gambling, and square dancing.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Richard Chapman and Gene Davis Chapman, and one sister; Nita Bell.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Yvonne Chapman of Madill, Okla.; children, Billy Gene Chapman of Madill, Okla., James Keith Chapman and wife Rachellevof Madill, Okla., David Wilson and wife Gwen of Oakland, Okla., Scarlet Turner and husband Clifford Evans of Sherman, Texas; 11 Grandchildren, Todd Turner, Jeremy Wilson, Mariah Chapman, Weston Chapman, Mandy Wells, Jessica Douglas, Zach Chapman, David P. Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Stacey Ishmael, Amanda Gentis; and numerous great and great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 28, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at the Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. Doug Tyner Jr. will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Linn Cemetery in Linn, Okla. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.

Casket Bearerss will be Jim Copeland, Steve Atkins, Curtis Parsley, Grady Dean Adams, Brandon Polster and Byron Self.

Honorary Bearers are Robert Lowe, Royce King, Harry Richardson, Chase Awalt and Lloyd Eppler.
