Elinor Louise Nelson, 85, passed away on December 8, 2021. She was born June 22, 1936 in Ashland, Ohio to Dean and Gertrude Benshoff.
Elinor began college at Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio at the age of 16 graduating four years later with honors. She was a homecoming queen and active in her local sorority. While at college, she met her first husband and father to all three of her boys.
Elinor spent much of her career as a Liaison Officer (Civilian) for the U.S. Army and was based out of the Pentagon in Arlington, Va. After retiring in the 90s, she eventually relocated with her husband, to Las Vegas, Nev.
During retirement, Elinor was active for over 15 years as both a Deacon and Elder at Mountain View Presbyterian Church. She also remained engaged as a volunteer via her involvement with various Alumni associations.
She loved to travel, especially cruises and during her lifetime traveled to all corners of the world.
Berlin to China, Antarctica to Brazil and scores of locales in between.
She was preceded in death by her son Craig W. Bianco; and granddaughter, Lauren.
She is survived by her husband of over 40 years, M. Ray Nelson; sons, Anthony (Jay) Bianco of Los Angeles, Calif. and Brian D. Bianco of Shoreline, Wash.; grandchildren, Nick, Anna and Mike; stepsons, Dr. J eff Nelson of Kingston, Okla., and Ed Nelson of Dallas, Texas; daughters-in-law, Kathy and Patti.
Mom, you were always there for us with your love, support and understanding. Your positive impact on those who knew you will never be forgotten.
