On December 21, 2021, Kevin Moseley, a 58-year-old male from Kingston, pleaded guilty to three counts of First-Degree Murder Deliberate Intent. This plea comes two and a half years after the original incident.
On August 22, 2019, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from a friend of Moseley’s. This friend notified former Marshall County Sheriff Danny Cryer that Moseley had confessed to her that he had killed his wife, Monica
Moseley, and two stepchildren, Jonathan, and Stephanie Horath. Jonathan, who would have been a senior this year, was 16 and Stephanie was 12.
Cryer said that he and a few deputies dispatched to the address to check on the possible victims after receiving the phone call. The officers were met with worried families and a grim discovery, all three victims had been shot and killed.
Moseley was arrested near Abilene, Texas on August 26, 2019, and extradited back to Marshall County. He was initially arraigned on August 27, 2019. He pleaded not guilty at the time and was denied a bond.
The original court date was set for July 14, 2020. After a few continuances because of COVID and filing motions, the court date was set for February 14, 2022. However, in an effort to take the death penalty off of the table, Moseley pleaded guilty to all three charges.
He was sentenced to three life sentences without the benefit of probation or parole. The life sentences are to run consecutive. This means that Moseley may have escaped the death penalty, but he will never see the outside of a prison.
