An Allen, Okla. Police Chief is behind bars and facing felony charges. Kasey Shaver, a 32-year-old male from Manitou was arrested on September 17, 2021, following an incident in the Tillman County Jail.
The incident allegedly came to light in July when Shaver was called to the Tillman County Jail to assist with a belligerent female inmate. Court records state that Shaver, who was a sheriff’s deputy at the time, forced the inmate on the ground after she resisted his attempts.
Investigators allege that Shaver released the female and then pulled out his taser, letting her up.
Shaver then allegedly tased the female inmate while she was walking away from him. She then fell face-first onto the ground. Witnesses stated that Shaver did not give the inmate any verbal commands or approach her to attempt to bring her into compliance when she walked away. He just deployed the taser.
During the investigation, Shaver allegedly admitted that using the taser should have been one of the last resorts.
Shaver is currently facing felony charges of Assault and Battery with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon. His bond was set at $500,000.
