Roscoe James Polster

Roscoe James Bessent Polster, 88, of Madill, Okla. passed away Friday, July 30, 2021, at his home in Madill. He was born on December 16, 1932, to Viola (Giles) Bessent Otley and Jesse Bessent in Oklahoma City, Okla. When he was 10 years old, he was adopted to Alvin and Annie O. Polster.

Roscoe accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of 16. He attended school in Little Rock, Ark., and later moved back to Oklahoma City. Roscoe married Rose Marcella Kuzmic on May 3, 1955, in Oklahoma City, and she preceded him in death on August 4, 2011.

He owned and operated a gas station on SW 59th street in Oklahoma City. His love was fast cars and watching streetcar racing after hours was a joy he shared for many years. In 1961, he moved his family to Madill where he worked in the oilfields as a derrickman for nearly 20 years. Before his retirement, he worked as a truck driver hauling horse trailers to the majority of the United States and Canada. Roscoe loved spending time home with his family, especially Christmas, which was always his favorite holiday. Camping and fishing at the lake, attending car show events, watching the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and the OU Sooners play. During his last few years, he enjoyed walking his dog companion, “Susie”.

He was survived by his children; Rebecca Weaver of Madill, Okla., Rodger Polster of Madill, Okla., Rhonda England of Durant, Okla., Robert Polster of Little City, Okla., 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law; Ann Knapper of Modesto, Calif., Karen Linch, Moore, Okla., and brother in-law, Kenneth Lazier of Santa, Cruz, Calif.

He was preceded in death by parents, adopted parents, brother; Odell Bessent, wife, and three sons; Russell, Rodney Polster and an infant Randal “Randy” Polster.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary from 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Ardmore, Okla. Father Kevin Ratterman and Father Oby Zunmas will officiate the service. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery in Madill, Okla. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Casket Bearers will be Rodger Polster, Robert Polster, Brandon Polster, Bryan England, Mario Santos, and Paul Santos.

Honorary Bearers are Jim Branch, John Woody, Carl Stephens, Gary Ayres and John King.
