Snoop Dogg made an appearance on July 3, 2021 to help promote a new venue that opened recently in Ardmore, Okla. Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., professionally known as Snoop Dogg, has been taking the world by storm for almost 30 years. He is arguably one of the most well known rappers in the business world.
Snoop Dogg was born October 20, 1971 to Vernall Vamado and Beverly Broadus in Long Beach, California. He was given the nickname “Snoop” because of his love of the cartoon Peanuts. After Snoop’s father and stepfather both disappeared by the age of four, his mom had to raise him and his two siblings as a single mother.
Snoop sold candy, delivered papers and worked other odd jobs to help his mother make ends meet. A hobby in school completely changed Snoop’s life. He said he began rapping in school, and realized he had a “Godgiven talent.”
"When I rapped in the hallways at school I would draw such a big crowd that the principal would think there was a fight going on,” Snoop recalled in a television interview. “It made me begin to realize that I had a gift. I could tell that my raps interested people and that made me interested in myself.”
Snoop’s rap tapes fell into Dr. Dre’s hands and it catapulted him into the limelight. Dr. Dre, a famous rapper, writer and producer, took Snoop Dogg under his wing and molded him into the icon he is today.
The Snoop event was the show stopping finale for 410 Live in Ardmore. The 18 and older venue held a weekendlong bash to celebrate Independence Day and the event’s opening.
The 410 Live event center sits on 160 acres with a lake, and RV parking. It also offers food vendors and on-site dispensaries. A medical card is required to purchase any items from the dispensaries.
