Two local men landed in hot water after an altercation concerning an axe handle. On March 5, 2021, Jason and Jimmy Boggs were both arrested after a Domestic Assault call. Marshall County Deputy Kristen Floyd was dispatched to a residence in the 4300 block of Chickasaw Road in Enos on that fated day.
Once she arrived on scene, she observed Jason Boogs, a 28-year-old male from Kingston, sitting on the tailgate of an emergency responder’s vehicle. Jason’s face was bloody and the EMTs were attempting to stop the bleeding from two separate lacerations on his head.
According to the report, “one laceration was in his hairline above the right eye, the size of a paper clip. The second laceration was in his hairline directly above his left eye the size of a small pencil.” Floyd also observed Jason beginning to become agitated due to getting medical attention.
Jason told Floyd he was not happy with the EMTs attending to his wounds. “I called about what happened, not about my head,” he allegedly told Floyd.
Floyd informed Jason that they were doing their jobs and making sure he did not have anything more than superficial wounds. Oklahoma Highway Patrolman Chase Mass was on the scene before Floyd and approached her to fill her in on the incident.
Mass told Floyd that Jason had consumed “a beer or two” that day. According to Floyd, Jason “jumped off the tailgate to scream at his grandpa and grandma about the statement.”
Floyd and Mass were able to get Jason to calm down a bit and finish getting the rest of the story. Jason stated he was assisting his grandpa with the website called Ebay, and the grandpa started an argument.
Jason also claimed that the grandpa was “getting up in his face.” That is when Jason pushed his grandpa away from him. Hearing the altercation, Jason’s uncle, Jimmy entered the residence and things became heated.
During the altercation, Jimmy headed back to his residence across the street and Jason followed. Jimmy, a 53-year-old male instructed Jason to remove himself from the property. When Jason did not leave, Jimmy allegedly hit Jason in the head with an axe handle.
Jason informed Floyd he wished to press charges against his uncle. Floyd then went across the street to Jimmy’s residence to get his side of the story. After multiple attempts of knocking on the door, Jimmy finally emerged in the doorway with some visible marks of an altercation.
Jimmy told Floyd that Jason had been causing trouble at his parent’s house, and he went to the residence to put a stop to it. After he instructed Jason to leave, Jimmy headed back to his house.
Just like in Jason’s version, Jimmy stated that Jason followed him to his house and the older Boggs struck the younger one with an axe handle after his requests for Jason to leave were not followed. Floyd then asked Jimmy to produce the handle-turned-weapon.
Initially, Jimmy claimed he burned it. Floyd informed him that there was not enough time to burn the handle between the incident and their conversation. Jimmy ceded and gave Floyd the axe handle, and Jimmy was arrested for Domestic Assault and Battery.
While Floyd and Mass were speaking with grandma and grandpa Boggs, Jason became very agitated again. According to the report, he “came out of the ambulance stating that nothing was being done.”
Mass attempted to calm Jason down, but the suspect tried to walk past Floyd toward where Jimmy was sitting. Floyd grabbed his arm, and he began screaming even more. The situation began to escalate with Jason becoming increasingly more agitated.
Officers decided to detain him for obstruction before matters became worse, and Jason began resisting. After using the Control Stick, Floyd was able to assist officers in handcuffing Jason.
Once things calmed down, Floyd was able to get the entire story. During the argument about Ebay, Jason allegedly pushed his grandfather into the air conditioner hard enough to leave a dent.
Enter Jimmy, and the axe handle incident. Jason then allegedly went back to his grandparent’s house and threw a chair at the elderly Boggs.
Officers transported Jason to AllianceHealth to get checked out, and he fought officers once again while attempting to place him in the transport vehicle to go to the Marshall County Jail.
After the incident concluded, James was also arrested for Domestic Abuse/ Assault and Battery and had two outstanding warrants – one for a traffic violation in Marshall County and one for Child Abuse out of Pontotoc County.
