Billy Joe Bowie, 82, died March 15, 2021 in his home in Kingston, Okla. He was born April 18, 1938 in Arkansas. He was a proud relative of the famous Alamo legend James (Jim) Bowie.
Bill was a wood craftsman, carpenter, construction foreman, truck driver, and all around handyman. Prior to retiring Bill traveled and worked throughout the United States and overseas. He built his final home in Oklahoma with his own hands for himself and his pre-deceased partner Barbara Fox. He was such a hard worker that he often joked that sawdust was in his blood.
He liked traveling, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, and just conversing with family and friends. Bill remained strong and active until the very end. His final days were spent playing music while being surrounded by family, friends, and neighbors.
Bill is survived by four daughters from his first wife Janice; Teri, Peggy, Judy, and Brenda, and two sons from his second wife Pauline; Billy Joe Jr and Wade. He also had three step children Kim, Rodney, and Glenda. Bill left behind numerous grandchildren that he loved dearly.
No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, Bill would have appreciated donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
