Alice Ann Bowen Thompson “Grandma Alice” was born in Atoka, Okla. to the parentage of Fred Bowens, Sr., and Thelma Cox on August 3, 1936. At the age of five, Alice lost her mother and was reared by her stepmother Eula Sanders Bowen. She accepted Christ at an early at the Bethel AME Church in Atoka, Okla. Alice Ann was a proud 1955 graduate of Dunbar High School and graduated as class Valedictorian.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Thelma Bowens, Sr., and Eula Bowens; her husband R.C. Thompson; four brothers, Fred, H.J., Clyde, and Henry.; and three sisters, Charlene Vance, Leona Bright, and Lorene Alexander.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons; Gregory Bowens and Rev. Debra Davis-Bowens, James Arterberry and Deborah McNary-deceased, three grandchildren; Amber Bowens, Audra Bowens, and Jessica Bowens, 11 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, two sisters; Bobbie Jean Christopher of Dallas, Texas and Alpha Ewing of Long Beach, Calif. and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Memorial Service will be on April 3, 2021 at First Missionary Baptist Church in Madill, located at 410 N 6th St., at 11:00. Reverend Bobby L. Davis, Sr. will officiate.
