The Redskins fought a hard battle against the Tishomingo Indians on February 2, 2021. Despite the records – Redskins 10 and 6, and Indians 14 and 3 – the Redskins came in ranked # 11 th in class 3A and the Indians were ranked # 18 in the same class. Regardless of rankings, the games are always settled on the floor. The Tishomingo Indians came ready for the challenge, the Redskins, not so much. Redskins fell to the Indians 61 to 50.
In the first quarter, the Redskins moved the ball well on the offensive end of the court. Brady Brister came in firing as he does, and hitting, he had a three and a two-point field goal. Dakota Weibner added a three as well. Marshall Ludrick was inside for two buckets. Drew Capps, starting for Jesse Rose who is resting nagging injuries, had an inside bucket. After quarter one, the Redskins are trailing by 1, 15 to 14.
The second quarter was hotly contested. The play was physical and players were getting to the line. The Indians were, however, scoring buckets. Brister, Braden Matchen and Reid Cason all had buckets. Cason got to the line and was 4 of 4. Jase Hays was 2 of 2 from the line. The score heading into the dressing room, Redskins trail by 4, 30 to 26.
Drew Capps found his shot from close range, he had three buckets in the third quarter. Weibner found his from the three-point range, he had two. That was all the scoring for the quarter. Buckets were getting hard to come by.
The anemic shooting continued into the fourth. Brister had a three, Hays had a couple of buckets and was 1 of 2 from the line. Cason had another bucket; he was 0 for 1 from the line. Cole Morgan came in and had a bucket. Meanwhile, the Indians were getting to the line, one player went 9 of 11 from the stripe, the rest of his team was 3 of 6. Don’t get the wrong idea, the Redskins were putting them on the line, it was just the wrong guy. The final score was Indians 61 to 50.
Box score: Brister with 10, Weibner had nine, Capp and Cason both with eight Hays had seven, Ludrick had four and Morgan with two. As a team, 7 of 11, from the line. Jackson Lawley, a Tishomingo Indian had a nice performance. He had 35 points, 12 of 15 from the line.
