Dear Editor,
I’m a long-time subscription holder of the Madill Record. I love newspapers and newspapering. While just a “weekender” 25 years ago, I had the newspaper mailed to me. I have subscribed every year since. Twenty-five years’ worth. Then I moved here. I have also written Madill Art Club news and events, for the Record. Your archives would contain my three-part series on the history of the 58 year old Art Club, published in recognition of the club’s 50 year anniversary of its founding. I say all this in support of the club’s involvement in the community and its mission to create awareness of all art. The club has the state record as the longest continuing art club in the State of Oklahoma. Our club is open to all. We deal with all media – oils, watercolors and water media, acrylics, pottery, photography. We are very proud of our Art Club reporter, Linda Whalen, whose column has been published regularly in the paper during the past several years. I hope that her column will continue to be published on a regular basis. It is very informative on club activities and is often an instructive view of the art world in general. I look forward to reading it.
