LAYOFFS

On Oct. 15, multiple sources in Madill reported that Landmark Bank was set to announced layoffs in Oklahoma.

The Columbia, Mo. based bank several locations in southern Oklahoma. This includes branches in Ada, Ardmore, Durant, Kingston, Madill, Sulphur and Tishomingo.

The layoffs stem from a July 31 merger between Simmons Bank of Pine Bluff, Ark. and Landrum, Landmark’s parent company.

Caroline Markis, Simmons Bank’s vice president public relations, said the layoffs will affect employees both in Marshall County and across Southern Oklahoma.

“As with any merger, we have evaluated the most effective way to run the combined bank,” she said.

“After thoughtful consideration about how to best continue to serve Landmark customers, we have made the difficult decision to reduce overlapping or replicated positions. These are primarily duplicated back-end, non-customer-facing positions, so customers will continue to work one-on-one with bankers they’ve come to know and trust.”

“Simmons Bank and Landmark Bank are dedicated to providing quality banking services to our customers. Together, we are committed to making sure the outstanding service our customers have come to expect does not change.”
