Texoma Fire District: Remember to pay your dues

Well the heat is still on! Looks like we may get some rain and it is sure welcome, it is just so dry.

I hope everyone was watching the new football season games. The Dallas Cowboys sure looked great! If they keep playing as they did on Sunday, they can sure be a playoff team.GO Cowboys!

The college games have been awesom, my grandson plays for Lousiana State Monroe and it was a wild game. Unfortunately they lost by 1 point in overtime, but what a game.

Back to what is happening in the district. The fire department this last month has had 5 car wrecks, 3 structure fires and 2 ems calls for assistance. They are working on the up coming ISO test so they stay busy behind the scenes with paperwork. They are still in need of volunteers to join the department, so please give Todd Cissell a call and talk to him about joining, call 580-565-4491.

The fire department meeting is scheduled for September 16, 6:30 pm at the fire station.

Ladies auxiliary did very well on the Mexican-Pile-On. All proceeds go to help the fire department. It was nice to see so many new faces and of course the regulars that come. We had lots of nice compliments on the food and deserts. The Afghan that we raffled off was won by Bob Freeman. So all in all, everyone had a great time. We will be back next year with our Pile-On.

The membership letters have gone out to all in our district. Be sure to fill it out and send it back in with your check so that you will be paid up. If you are not a member and have a fire, you will be charged for the fire department coming out. Dues are only $35.00 for a normal resident and a lot, if you have acreage it is a little more, but so worth it.

The ladies auxiliary meeting is September 16, 1:00 pm at the Texoma Community/Training Center. Come on down and join in with all the great deserts. This is our election meeting, so it should be fun.

The up coming activity for the ladies is going to be our craft and bake sale on October 12, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Be sure to come and get your home made cakes and pies.

I must give our commissioner, Chris Duroy, a big thanks for the nice road redo on McDuffee. No more pot holes or ridges, a job well done.

Until next week, stay safe and please keep our fire fighters in your prayers.
