The Marshall County Board of Commissioners held their meeting on July 1. After approving the minutes from the previous meeting, Daniel Nixon, the Deputy Director of the Marshall County Emergency Management, updated the court on the progress of the Emergency Management Safe Rooms. Out of the 105 that were scheduled, 97 of them are in the ground. The other eight will be done soon. The rain impeded the progress, and there were a few families that dropped out of the program, leaving MCEMD to having to restart the process with the new approved family.
The board questioned why the reimbursements were taking so long to receive. Nixon and the MCEMD Director Robert Chaney informed the board that there is a new director of the Oklahoma Emergency Management.
“I spoke to Mark, he was not aware it was dragging so slow. He is now aware and said he would get on it,” Chaney said.
Then, the board reviewed the multiple annual contracts and decide to vote them in or not. They approved all but one contract. The board decided to forego the contract with Miller Officer Equipment to Commissioners Office Copier Management Contract. The printer is outdated, so having a $700 maintenance package on it was a moot point. They decided to not resign the contract and use the printer until it gave out.
