Traffic stop turns drug bust in Kingston

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on June 15, Kingston Police Officer Dakota Hanks was heading westbound on Highway 70 when he observed a vehicle with a defective headlight driving the opposite direction. Hanks turned around and pulled over the vehicle near Rick’s Boat and RV Storage. Hanks approached the vehicle and requested the insurance and driver’s license from the person operating the vehicle. The occupants in the vehicle were identified as Reginald Thorn and Rhea Dozier.

Dozier began searching for the proof of insurance in the glove compartment, but was unable to locate it. Hanks questioned who the car belonged to, and Thorn replied that it was his mother’s car. Hanks requested the driver’s license a second time, to which the driver produced it. That is when Hanks noticed Thorn’s license had been expired since 2011.
