In spite of battling through a gauntlet of a schedule last week, the young Madill Lady Wildcats found some positives including a big win and another near miss in softball action.
The victory came in an impressive 11-1 decision over Davis while they fell just shy in a 5-4 loss to Wynnewood in festival action. Those contests salvaged the week for Madill following doubleheader losses to Byng and Plainview along with a loss to powerful North Rock Creek.
There’s definitely little rest this week with three district games early before a visit to Class 5A Durant on Thursday evening.
Aubrey Orr was stellar in the pitching circle in the Davis win as she worked all five innings of the run rule, scattering five hits along with three strikeouts and two walks. At the plate Orr led the charge as well, racking up four hits, including a homerunanddouble,driving in three runs and scoring three times.
Madill erupted for four tallies in the first stanza, one in the second, four in the third and two more in the fifth while piling up 11 hits.
Orr, Chloe Miller and Kinsley Troxtell all provided hits in the early uprising with Orr’s solo homer tacking on thesecondinningproduction. Emersyn Thomas, Leighton ClementandLanaWigington posted singles in the third stanza with Orr adding a double.
Wigington and Thomas tossed in two hits apiece for the Lady Wildcats with Miller, Troxtell and Clement contributing one each.
Madill built a 4-2 edge in the second frame against Wynnewood but was unable to hold off the late comeback from the Lady Savages despite finishing with a 7-4 advantage in hits.
Orr notched a double with Karma Williams, Tillie Chapa, Troxtell, Layne Albright, Thomas and Clement all adding singles.
