A huge 8-1 victory last week over Silo catapulted the Kingston Lady Redskins to the top of the District 3A-8 softball standings and inside track to the district title.
Coach Aaron Minor’s unit wrapped the stellar week with a 14-1 win over Glencoe and 11-0 rout of Morris in the Hall of Fame Festival in Oklahoma City.
The Lady Redskins face a massive test this weekend in the Norman Tournament that includes opening games with Class 5A state contenders Duncan and Pryor.
Kingston put it all together earlyagainstthedefending district champs on the way to the Silo win at home, plating a run in the first stanza before taking the lead for good in a four-run second inning explosion.
KannaStroud’sRBIsingle knocked in Kate Ratzlaff, who led off the frame by drawing a walk. A pair of free passes one inning later got things rolling ahead of a Ratzlafftwo-rundoubledown the leftfield line. Madi Hammond doubled in another run with Stroud and Dextry Bowermanaddingtothelead on back-to-back singles.
That was more than enough cushion for ace hurler Gracie Bridgman as she tossed all seven innings while yielding six hits with three strikeouts and just one walk to earn the pitching win.
TheLadyRedskinscapped the scoring with three more runs in the fifth keyed by hits from Bowerman, Keeton Hatley and Destry Davis sandwiched around a walk.
Kingston finished with nine hits led by three from Stroud along with Bowerman’s two. Ratzlaff, Hammond, Hatley and Davis posted one hit apiece.
Khloe Hall picked up the pitching triumph in the run-rule shortened Glencoe decision, allowing just one hit over a pair of innings. The Kingston offense reeled off four runs in the first frame and put it completely on ice as they sent 13 batters to the plate during a massive 10-run second stanza.
Bowerman and Stroud tallied doubles with two singles apiece from Ratzlaff and Hammond. Stroud, Hall, Hatley and Davis also chipped in singles.
Ratzlaff, Hammond and Stroud all ended with three hits.
The hitting onslaught continued against Morris to make a winner of Stroud in the pitching circle as she yielded only one hit in four innings as well as adding four strikeouts.
Six singles highlighted a five-run first frame flurry, which proved to half their 12 hits in the run rule victory as they also cashed in six stolen bases.
Hatley proved to be the catalyst with three hits and two RBI with Ratzlaff and Hall adding a pair of hits apiece. Hammond, Stroud, Bowerman, Ava Bain and Emma Bridgeman each picked up one hit.
