Kingston board approves staff

Kingston Public Schools is beginning the 2026-27 school year with new staff members, additional adjunct instructors and construction projects nearing completion.

During its Aug. 11 meeting, the Kingston Board of Education approved the hiring of four non-certified staff members: LeeAnn Rogers, Tiffany Walker, Maria Mize and Tori Dupree. The positions the employees will fill were not identified in the meeting minutes.

Board members also approved three adjunct applications for the 2026-27 school year. Blake Summers was approved for Mid-Level Science, whileCarrieHatleywas approved for Earth Science, PhysicalScienceandZoology. Jon Harris was approved for Mid-Level English.

Superintendent Brian Brister reported that the school year is off to a great start and that the district's new buildings are getting close to completion. The minutes did not provide anticipated completion dates or additional details about the construction.

The board also approved a revision to the district's 2026-27 school calendar. Details about what was changed were not included in the minutes.

Student activities approved as part of the consent agenda included travel to Minnesota for National Honor Choir. The board also approved official recognition of the Band Booster Club.

Several student organizations received approval for activities and fundraisers, including cheer, FFA, Student Council, Business Professionals of America and special education.

In other business, board members approved the Child Nutrition Program procurement plan and procurement protest procedures for the 2026-27 school year. Procedures forimplementingChild Find for the school year were tabled until the September board meeting.

The board also authorized DeputyMinuteClerkWesley Burnett to legally sign on behalf of the district for federal awards and approved the disposal of surplus property.
