The Forecast Calls for

A return to stormier weather begins today as the Sand Bass Festival continues. The high pressure that has kept our midweek weather quiet shifts east by Thursday, and southwest flow aloft will bring back conditions that favor storm development.

Scattered storms are expected to develop Thursday afternoon, with more widespread storms likely Friday into Saturday as a stronger disturbance moves in from the southwest.

Highs will stay in the mid 80s to near 90 with warm, muggy nights in the low 70s. Storm chances ease a bit on Sunday but don’t go away completely. A few stronger storms with heavy rainfall are possible, though the overall severe threat should remain on the lower side.

Festivalgoers should expect someinterruptionsfrom storms, though there will still be dry periods mixed in. Early next week looks a little drier, with near-normal temperatures and a few spotty afternoon storms still possible.
