TheKingstongirlsandboys basketball teams continued building momentum toward the playoffs as each posted three emphatic victories.
Coach Chad Rumer’s 15th ranked girls smacked Plainview (50-24), Holdenville(73-27)andHugo (76-39) to up their record to 12-8 for the season.
The Redskins, who were rated 11th in the final Class 3A poll, rolled past Plainview (65-28), Holdenville (71-54) and Hugo (72-49) as they improved to 16-4.
Both teams will wind downtheregularseasonwith road tilts Friday at Sulphur and Monday at Marietta.
Girls
TheLadyRedskinsopened the week of near perfection with a fast start against Plainview, racing to a 17-7 edge after one period and doubled that same score in the second frame for a 34-14 advantage.
Kingston continued pouring on in the final two stanzas, yielding only 10 total points.
Avery Ludrick pumped in 12 points and Dilynn Weeks also reached double figures with 10. Destry Davis scored seven while Taylie Wiebener andKenzieGoreeeachposted six points.
It was all Kingston in the Holdenville outing as they tossed a first quarter shutout to build a 24-0 cushion. The Lady Redskins pushed the margin to 42-2 at intermission and never looked back.
A trio of scorers all racked up double digits led by Keeton Hadley’s 17 points that included three treys. Dextry Bowerman chipped in 13 with Ludrick adding 11 to go along with eight from Cassidy Walker and seven from Goree.
Kingston sprinted to another massive first period lead against Hugo and never slowed down from there in leading 23-6. Walker and Ludrick combined for 15 of the first frame points while Walker added 10 more in the second en route to a gamehigh 19 points.
Weeks notched 16 points whileLudrickcontributed15.
Boys
Balanced production providedthekeyforKingston in running past Plainview in the week’s opening contest.
The Redskins were up 20-11 and 28-20 at the half before outscoring the Indians by an 18-4 count in the third and 19-4 in the fourth to pull away.
Jack Hinsley and Hayden Seeney pumped in 12 points apiece, Lander Burkhalter and Blane Henry each tallied 10 with Bowen McAdams adding eight.
It was a close one with Holdenville through two frames as Kingston maintaineda34-29advantage at the halftime break before a 16-5 third period burst broke it wide open for the Redskins.
Four Redskins reached double figures again as Parks Ratzlaff led the way with 15 points and Brock Rumer chipped in 14. Seeney contributed 11 and Hinsley hit for 10 while they also got nine from Henry as Burkhalter and McAdams each powered in six points.
In the week’s finale, Kingston got off to a much better start while building a double digit first half lead and never looked back facing Hugo.
Coach Jason Lockhart’s crew held a 17-6 advantage through one quarter, 33-18 at halftime and 50-25 following the third stanza.
Hinsley was the offensive catalyst with 20 points as Rumer canned four three pointers on his way to 16. Henry checked in with 15 points, sinking three treys as well, as well as Burkhalter’s 13.
