Here’s a look at several of the bills I’ve filed this year.
House Bill 1662 would require the Corporation Commission to file annual reports detailing all activities and actions, including all trips taken, by any representative of the commission in their dealings with the Southwest Power Pool. The report must include the purpose, location and cost of such trips and a record of all meetings, dates, locations and subject matters discussed as well as a comprehensive summary of all votes taken by commission representatives on matters related to the Southwest Power Pool. The commission uses taxpayer dollars, and the public deserves to know how those dollars are being used.
House Bill 1663 would allow counties the option to conduct an online resale auction of any real estate or other property for those delinquent in their taxes instead of the annual in-person auctions that currently occur at county courthouses. This just gives counties the option to conduct these auctions online instead of expending their resources to hold them in person.
House Bill 1664 would amend the Open Meetings Act in two ways. It would allow county commissioners to discuss administrative, operational and procedural matters outside of a regularly scheduled meeting, even if a quorum is present, as long as the discussions do not address appropriations of funds and no official action is taken. It also wouldallowtheStatewideIndependent Living Council to hold virtual meetings as long as each member attending is audible and visible to each other and the public.
House Bill 1667 increases the time for Oklahoma childcare workers to receive provider training from 12 to 24 months while they are obtaining their licenses. There’s been a lag in license processing, which then puts these workers at a disadvantage as they try to get all their necessary coursework done within the 12 months. We’re losing qualified people in this necessary profession because of the current time constraint. This gives them a bit more breathing room.
These are a few of my bills filed this session. I’ll discuss others in future columns.
