Kingston’s girls and boys basketball teams each recorded two victories in three contests at the Atoka Tournament last week with the Lady Redskins capturing runner-up honors.
TheLadyRedskinsneeded overtime to dispatch Idabel (52-46) in game one and knocked off Durant, 51-44 in the semifinals before falling to rival Madill (68-41) for the third time this season in the tournament title tilt.
For the boys, the Redskins cruised by Pauls Valley (6443), but couldn’t hold off Idabel in a 55-43 semifinal loss. Kingston answered however by bouncing Durant (57-54) in a double overtime nail biter.

Girls
Kingston fell in a doubledigit first quarter deficit in the opening quarter against Idabelbutfoughtbackbehind 10 second period points from Jaci Herndon to narrow the gap to 30-27 at halftime.
Still down by a point entering the fourth, the Redskins managed to force overtime and then got six points from Avery Ludrick in the extra frame to pull out the victory.
Herndon led the scoring charge with 16 for Kingston as Ludrick hit double figures with 14 and Joley Heydon chipped in 13.
Facing Durant, the Lady Redskins got off to a much better start with an 18-11 advantage through one stanza, which they maintained the rest of the way.
Kingston was up 31-21 at halftime and 42-31 through three frames and held off a late charge from the Lady Lions.
Cassidy Walker pitched in 12 points with Herndon and Heydon adding 11 apiece to pace the balanced attack.
In the finale, the Lady Redskins struggled to find a defensive answer for Madill astheLadyWildcatsledfrom the start. It was 16-9 after one period, 34-16 at halftime and 52-29 at the end of three frames.
Heydon had a solid game again with 12 points as Walker pitched in 11. Coby Davis added six and Taylie Wiebener scored five.
Boys
After a tight first period in the tournament opener against Pauls Valley, the Redskins opened things up with a 19-7 second stanza fueled by a season-best offensive performance from Sam Walker.
Walker tossed in 16 points overall in leading three double figure scorers while Kingston steadily pulled away over the final two stanzas.
Hayden Seeney canned three treys and contributed 15 points while Blane Henry added 13.
Things didn’t go as well against Idabel as the Warriors avenged an earlier loss to Kingston by grabbing an early 14-7 lead, which they extended to 25-14 at intermission.
TheRedskinscouldnotget the offense untracked until the fourth when both teams pumped in 18. Brock Rumer tallied eight of his 11 in that final frame. Seeney led the way with 16 and Lander Burkhalter scored nine.
Coach Bobby McAdoo’s team looked like they might run away in the third place game, breaking out to a 13-2 first quarter lead against Durant before watching the Lions rally to cut the margin to 24-21 at the half.
It was nip and tuck from there and tied at 46 through four quarters. Each team pumped in four in the first extra frame with Kingston notching a 7-4 edge in the second overtime spurred by five points from Rumer.
The Redskins had three players in double figures again with 21 from Rumer along with Hudson Everhart’s 14 and Burkhalter checking in with 10 points.
