Mason Campbell, a spirited 20-year-old senior at Madill High School, has been a cherished member of the school community since kindergarten. journey is a testament to the power of inclusion and kindness.

Campbell has always embraced his school life with enthusiasm, participating in various activities such as football and the Special Olympics. His love for sports is evident, and he dreams of working at the local bowling alley after graduation. He said his fondest memories are playing ball in physical education with his friend T, a moment that highlights the joy of friendship and play.

In football, Campbell has created many cherished memories, but none stand out quite like the thrill of winning Homecoming King. This honor was not only a recognition of his spirit but alsooftheloveandsupporthe receives from his teammates and peers.

Running out onto the field withtheplayersduringhome games is another favorite memory, where he feels the excitement of being part of the team. His presence on the sidelines serves as a reminder of the importance of inclusivity in sports, as Campbell’s infectious enthusiasm and unwavering support makehimthebiggestfan of the team, embodying the spirit of camaraderie.

Campbell’s teachers and coaches hold him in high regard. Mrs.Rushing,abeloved high school teacher, recalled her favorite memory.

“My favorite memory of him is either a giant hug or his 'Hey Ms. Rushing' in the hall almost every day! He is the sweetest and never forgets to say a kind word to the teachers on his way to his room.”

His warm personality and genuine affection for those around him make him a beloved figure in the school, with staff and students alike eager to protect and uplift him.

Coach Ron Robertson shared a particularly memorable moment with Mason.

“I will never forget Mason break dancing in the locker room the night we played Little Axe as the football team cheered, ‘Go Mason, Go Mason, Go Mason Go!’.He is the most popular kid in the schoolbecauseheloveseveryone the same, no matter who they are or where they come from. His hugs are so good they can break your ribs.”

Coach Sisco, another one of Campbell’s coaches, added to the senior’s memories.

“One of my favorite memories is seeing the pure joy and excitement he brings whenever he sees me,” Sisco said. “Without fail, he runs over with the biggest smile and gives me a huge hug like I’m the only person in the world. That warmth and kindness are just who Mason is.”

Coach Shaw reflected on Mason’s hard work and dedication.

“He has continued to be respectable and courteous to me. I really enjoyed coaching him and wish him success in whatever he chooses to pursue.”

Brandie,Campbell’smother, expressed her gratitude to the school community.

“We would like to say a hugethankyoutothecoaches and team members of the football team for including Mason and for always being so kind and awesome with him. Allowing him to be out there with you has made his world.”

She emphasized the importance of the support Campbell receives from his peers, noting how students stop to give him high-fives or hugs, making him feel valued and included.
