The Madill Art club hosted the 63rd Annual Madill Art Show from October 17 through October 20. It was a fantastic event for art and music lovers to enjoy.
John Emery played the piano for the guests while they toured the 500 pieces on display at the show. There were 500 art entries and 80 of those were from students attending Madill and Kingston high schools.
Many of the art pieces were a wide range of categories with different mediums used throughout. Anyone looking to purchase a piece of art could have easily found one to hang on their own wall. Most of the proceeds went to provide scholarships for future art students.
This year’s theme was one of the most famous bands from the 1960’s, The Beatles. The entryway into the extension office was impressive.
Linda Turner, head of the decorating committee, showcased the beauty of some of their most beloved songs as guests rounded the corner into the art exhibit from the front door. Fan favorites such as “Strawberry Fields Forever”, “Octopus Garden” and others were on display. All of the art club members and even guests dressed circa 1960’s on Thursday for the opening of the event.
The exhibit itself had works of art like beautifully colored3Dflowerspoppingoff the canvas to kiss the cheek of anyone stopping to admire their beauty, abstract art that screamed in a whisper and landscapes that make guests want to jump inside.
Some of the wildlife paintings were so realistic, the animal calls could nearly be heard. Some paintings even brought forth pleasant chuckle as the artists humor shone through.
There is an overwhelming number of talented artists in Marshall County who came together to show guests that Marshall County is also a leading community in the arts. Madill Art Club is the oldest ongoing club in the entire state of Oklahoma.
