The November 5, 2024 election for the Marshall County Sheriff is just around the corner. The two men campaigning for the position are the same two who ran for the position four years ago.
Donald Yow is running as the Republican candidate and Danny Cryer is running as the Independent candidate. Both men have extensive experience in the law field. They both bring three decades of law enforcement experience with them, and an overwhelming love for law enforcement and the residents of this community.
It’s nothing short of exciting for the people of Marshall County having these two men competing to take that position. Cryer and Yow both have many years of certified training in varying branches of specialized education of law enforcement that took them a lifetime to accumulate.
Their passion has taken eachofthemallovertheUnited States and enabled them to perform at the highest of levelsforthecommunity.The continued drive they both share for education and the ability to uphold that passion is seen in all that they have achieved over their lifelong commitment to a career in law enforcement.
Yow has served as the Marshall County Sheriff since 2021. He is from Madill and is still a proud resident. Yow said he spent his youth dreaming of a law enforcement careerandhasexceeded those dreams over the course of his lifetime.
In 1992, his career journey began and is still going strong. He said the community’s safety is one of his top priorities.
“To know the people in this community and allowing them to feel safe in their homes,” Yow said. “The ability to go after criminals and catch them, and overall preventing crime with help from the residents. I find honor in my duty to serve and build trust within the community taking their calls seriously.”
Cryer is also from Marshall County but instead of sporting black and gold, he wears Kingston colors. Cryer started his law enforcement career in 1997.
He said immediately fell in love with it and has been going full force ever since. He has invested many years into furthering his education in law enforcement and is nearly finished with his BachelorsDegreeinCriminal Justice.
He began his career working diligently with organizations to End Violence Against Women. He said it became an important part of his life. He also said the keeping the community safe is at the top of his priority list, as well.
“Working to put an end to domestic violence is a passion.” Cryer said. “Community involvement,increasing patrols and the amount of deputies to keep in touch with the communities [are all important]. I truly have a passion for law enforcement and I enjoy helping people.”
Both Yow and Cryer have impressive backgrounds and a shared passion for community and upholding the laws of this land. They both have done so much for the community and this will be a win in either direction for Marshall County.
