Now that the Willis bridge on Highway 377 has been open for several months, many residents have been asking when it will be completed. The Willis Bridge project has experienced multiple delays since it first started and now that is it completewhenwillitactually be done?
The recent demolishment of the remaining cement pylons from the old bridge has definitely renewed the publics interest in the project especially in regards to safety concerns.
While the bridge itself is done, the two lane road on either endleadingupthebridge is still in need of completion. The shift in the traffic lanes, along with placement of the cement barriers has many concerned that there will continue to be accidents in the area.
The most recent accident was reported on November 4 and was a head-on collision involving a truck and SUV. The driver of the truck reportedly had to be “extracted from the vehicle” after the collision happened near the Megastar Casino.
