Madill Rose Garden Club along with Oklahoma State Gardens and National Garden Clubs are sponsoring a Coloring and Poster Contest for Students K-12. Jo Wood, South Central District Garden Clubs President, is encouraging students in Madill and Kingston Schools, 4-H members, Boy and Girl Scout Troops, Library Reading Programs, and any other children’s activity in enter their students in the contest. Younger students will be awarded prizes and older students can win a scholarship. For anybody interested in entering the contest, contact Jayson Pruitt (214-478-2649) or Jo Wood (702-686-1876), President and member of Madill Rose Garden Club. The club members would really be excited if several would enter the contest and represent Marshall County. Pruitt presented information on a new program from the Conservation Service during the November meeting. The Community Resiliency Project has areas of conservation of water, food, soil, wildlife, and habitat. Anybody who might be interested in this project, contact the Marshall County Conservation Office at 800 Cedar Drive in Madill or their website Okconservation. org/backyard. The Madill Rose Garden met on Thursday, November 9, at the Fellowship Hall of the Madill Methodist Church with six members present. Conservation Creed and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited at the beginning of meeting in unison. Roll Call was “Favorite Thing About Fall”. Brenda Courtney was introduced as a new member of the club. Club members enthusiasticallywelcomeany new members, if interested, contact any Rose Garden Member.
Rose Garden members helped with the plant sale at the Madill Methodist Church bazaar. They decided that next early fall they would meet and transplant plants into decorative pots to sale at the bazaar. The plant sale at the bazaar was a hit with everyone in attendance.
The Madill Christmas Parade with be on Saturday, December 2 at 6:30 p.m. on West Lillie Boulevard. Members are asked to meet at 5:45 p.m. to help decorate float. Members need to bring a sack of candy to throw to people along parade route.
The Annual Christmas Luncheon will be held on Thursday, December 7 at 11:30 a.m. at Hobo Joe’s. Members are asked to bring a Christmas ornament costing approximately $5 in a gift bag for a gift exchange, a cash love offering for the Brookside Christmas Party. Members who haven’t paid their $15 dues can do so at the luncheon.
Mary Jane Lowery served a delicious snack of sweet bread, coffee cake, crackers, cheese, meat tray, cookies, coffee, and water to Courtney, Chris Moore, Becky Ninemire, Pruitt, and Wood at the meeting.
