Jaelen Porter

Jaelen Porter is a senior at Madill High School and is a part of the varsity cheerleading squad. Her parents are Jay and Shanna Porter. Her grandparents are Jerry and Jo Ann Hagler and Jackie and the late Bill Porter, she has an older sister named Chelsea Porter.

Porter was named an All-American Cheerleader the summer of 2022. She said her biggest challenge over the years has been overcoming a torn hamstring in 2020. She said she can’t recall a favorite memory over the others because she’s had so many good ones but says she will forever cherish the moments she spent with her best friends doing it.

She said she has always wanted to be a cheerleader.

“As a young girl I always looked up to the high school cheerleaders,” she said. “I’m sohappytonowbearolemodel for younger girls. I am so thankful for my coaches who gavemetonsofopportunities. I am grateful for their hard work and dedication they have put into the program.”

She said her family has been a huge inspiration and support system.

“My grandma, Jackie Porter, has inspired me the most in life because she carries herself with such grace, kindness, joy, and confidence. She is my biggest example of a Godly woman. I strive to be like her every day.”

“I’m not sure what I would do without my parents,” she continued. “They have been my biggest supporters and have taught me to follow my dreams no matter what mountain I have to face. I love them beyond words.”

After high school, Porter saidsheplanstoattendOklahoma State University and receive a Bachelor of Science in nursing and eventually a masters, with plans to become a Neonatal ICU nurse practitioner. Her advice to the younger classmates is, “Enjoy every moment. Right now, it may seem like time is going by so slow, but I promise you will wake up one day and realize how fast it went. Soak it all in, because in a blink of an eye you’ll be experiencing all your lasts.”
