77th Madill Round-Up Rodeo a smash

The77thMadillRound-Up Rodeo was held August 18 and 19 at the arena in Madill. The evening started out with a flag presentation from the firefighters on the top of their ladder and 12-year-old Cane Cook.

Then, it was on to a fun night of watching riders from all over compete in bull riding, barrel racing and more. Attendeesthoughttheydidan outstanding job and thrilled the crowd.

One of the highlights is always the kids’ calf scramble and mutton busting. Another event that brought lots of gigglestothecrowdandcheering were the stick horse races.

Although the temps were somewhat warm, the community showed up to the arena. This year, the queen candidates sold chances for a 16’ trailer donated by CM trailers.

Friday night was the coronation to crown the queen, the young lady who sold the most tickets. Mylee Coleman was this year’s rodeo queen and had the top ticket sales.

A tribute was done for Danny Johnson. It was led by Katie Johnson who got on a horse to lead while Carrie Johnson wrote and read a tribute.

Saturday morning started off with a parade and a cornhole tournamenttobenefitthe Madill Fire Department. The winners of the 2023 tournament were Tony Ibarra and Gilberto Gallegos.
