Wildcats v Redskins
The Madill Wildcats needed some bonus basketball on December 5 to defeat the Kingston Redskins 53-51 in triple overtime. This game went back and forth all night until, in the third overtime session, Ethan Wilkerson pulled up for a three-pointer at the buzzer and banked it in for the win. That final shot capped off a big night for Wilkerson, notching his second double-double of the young season (23 points/11 rebounds) and helping the Wildcats remain unbeaten. Wilkerson leads an experienced Wildcat squad with a senior-heavy arsenal of players who all contribute to Madill’s early success.
The loss for Kingston was their third of the season and their first district defeat, leaving them with an 0-3 record to start the season. This Marshall County rivalry will fire up once again January 12 in Kingston in the rematch in Lake Country play.
Lady Wildcats v Lady Redskins
The Lady Wildcats used stifling defense and solid shooting to defeat district neighbor Kingston 65-39 on December 5. Madill got out to a 10-0 lead early and never let up, propelled by nine steals on the night for the Lady Wildcats. The balanced attack lifted Madill to a 2-0 record on the season and handed Kingston their first blemish on the year. These two squads will face each other again January 12 in Kingston in a pivotal rematch.
