Many rural communities seem to be close-knit; almost family. Marshall County proved just how much like family there are after a social media post threatened the livelihoods of a local business owner and her husband.
On October 20, somebody took to Facebook to make a pretty outlandish claim. The person posted a photo of a take out container, with what they claimed was a rat in the food. The post was shared more than 700 times, and was beginning to affect Asian’s Palace business.
Even though the poster said they were going the call the Health Department, but never did, the owners paid for the Health Department to visit the restaurant and do an inspection. They posted the results on their Facebook page, showing that the restaurant received a clean bill.
Not only did the Marshall County community buck back against the allegations against the post, they showed unity. Since the post showed up on Facebook, many community members have eaten at Asian Palace and posted about their visits on social media.
The posts all show a clean restaurant and a buffet line with tantalizing entrees for customers to enjoy. Many businessesandorganizations like the Madill Band all dined at the restaurant since the claim, and they all posted on Facebook about how good the food was and how clean the restaurant was.
AsianPalace’sowner,Kim Kwon, took to Facebook to show her appreciation for all of the love pouring out from the community.
“To all my friends and customers, my husband Jimmy and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your love and support,” she posted. “We are pleased and thankful to be part of this loving and caring community and we welcome you with open hearts. What made us sadandheartbrokenhasnow filled our hearts with nothing but happiness because we didn’t know how much you all care for us. Thank you and God bless you all.”
