On July 15, a stray vehicle tried to make a new entrance on the east side of the Family Dollar on Highway 70 in Kingston.

Kingston Assistant Police Chief Chris Watson said it was the result of a medical issue. “There was a female headed westbound on Us Highway 70. Upon approachment of US Highway 70 and Highway 70a, the female lost consciousness and passed out.”

Watson said she left the roadway to the left on the south side of US Highway 70, clipping the stabilization cable that holds the street light stable. What happened after that left emergency personnel baffled.

“[The driver made] her way down the ravine and somehow jumping a four foot deep by four food wide creek that runs through a private property, coming to a rest in the Eastside wall of family dollar,” Watson said.

Watson said there were no injuries, the workers of the store are just “a little shook up” from the incident. When the car hit the side of the building, it pushed in the wall, and in turn, pushed the shelves lining that interior wall into the next aisle. The driver was treated on scene and released. She refused to be transported to the hospital.
