Voters in Oklahoma and fourteen other states and territories went to the polls March 3 to cast their ballots in the Presidential Primary.

Marshall County’s selections for both the Republican and Democratic primaries (President Donald J. Trump and former Vice President Joseph R. Biden respectively) mirrored statewide results.

Trump won 945 of the 974 votes cast in Marshall; good for 97.02 percent for ballots cast. Meanwhile, Biden received 332 of the 895 votes cast in Marshall County or 37.09%.

As they are party out of the White House, Democrats have a wide-open primary. Rounding out the top five finishers for Democrats in Marshall County were former New York mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (184 votes; 20.56%), Vermont U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (141 votes, 15.75%), Massachusetts U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (85 votes, 9.50%) and former South Bend, Ind. Mayor Pete Buttigieg (32 votes, 3.58%).

Statewide in Oklahoma Trump received 273,562 votes or 92.6%. Meanwhile, Biden’s statewide numbers were 117,552 votes and 38.67%. Sanders finished second statewide with 77,302 votes and 25.43%. Rounding out the top five were Bloomberg (42,243 votes, 13.90%), Warren (40,676 votes, 13.38%) and Minnesota U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (6,728 votes, 2.21%).

The National Primary

The national Republican Primary has featured minimal opposition to Trump.

The President easily won primaries in Alabama, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Maine, Tennessee and Texas. He was also expected to win other Midwestern and Western states whose results were not complete as of press time.

In Texas, Trump claimed 94.05% of the vote in the Republican Primary or 1,871,513 of 1,990,012 votes cast.

Meanwhile, Biden has seen a surge in support since an overwhelming victory in South Carolina on Feb. 29. Since that time rival candidates Buttigieg and Klobuchar ended their campaigns and endorsed Biden. Klobuchar announced her support at a Biden rally March 2 at Gilley’s Dallas.

“I cannot think of a better way to end my campaign than by joining [Biden’s],” Klobuchar told the crowd. “It’s time for a president who represents all of America,” she said. “And it is time for a president who will bring dignity and decency back to the White House.”

Later Biden took the stage to an overflow crowd at Gilley’s.

“If you’ll have my back, I’ll have yours,” Biden said early in his speech. “To anyone who has been knocked down, this is your campaign.”

Elsewhere on Tuesday, Biden collected victories in Alabama, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia,

Meanwhile, Sanders won Colorado, Utah and Vermont.

The primaries in California and Maine had no declared winners at press time.
